President Obama launched the My Brother’s Keeper initiative to address persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people can reach their full potential. Through this initiative, the Administration joined with cities and towns, businesses, and foundations who are taking steps to connect young people to mentoring, support networks, and the skills they need to find a good job or go to college.

Join the movement and commit to mentoring a young person in your community today!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is is one of the oldest and largest youth mentoring organizations in the United States. After surveying the children at the beginning of a study, and again after 18 months, researchers at Public/ Private Ventures found that program participants, compared to those children not in the program, were:

46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs

27% less likely to begin using alcohol

52% less likely to skip school

37% less likely to skip a class

33% less likely to hit someone

Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children of all ages in communities across the country, and it is an excellent way to get going as a mentor for a young person in your community right away!
